NaNoWriMo 2016... Just a little over two weeks away now....

My desk right now, is (mostly) organized.  For my birthday, I got some money from a friend and I used it to - of course - get some practical items that I'll get a lot of use out of, for a long, long time.  (Thanks, Ware family!)

I've been printing up some really interesting information from past NaNos, pep-talks and the like, as well as other information I've come across from other writing blogs I follow.  Things that I want to have on hand, not just for next month's project, but for future projects and have them right here when I need them and don't want to have to scour the internet for "where was that article again that talked about that thing..." and before I know it, I've got carpal tunnel in my hands again, my mouse's batteries have been drained multiple times over, and my eyes are dry and squinty, and my body is permanently shaped in the sitting position.  Ha ha

Right now, I've got a binder full of articles, and a nice little 1/2" thick pile of paper waiting to be organized that's articles, as well as self-care things to do when I need to take a break from my keyboard and unplug, especially when my muse is being mean and not very forthcoming with ideas (if you've read my book, you'll know exactly how nasty she can be sometimes!  ha ha).  And it's just nice to unplug from electronics once in awhile, you know?

One of my goals over the course of the next couple weeks is to get those things organized!  And to come up with a nifty list of ideas that aren't already listed.  I know for sure one of them is going to be to take my camera out more.  I've taken a few pictures recently, for my neighbour, of her grandkids playing outside, and of their artwork with the sidewalk chalk.  I've got to get those e-mailed over to her, that reminds me.  Anyway, the other thing I want to do - that I need to do, if I'm honest - is map out "Work hours" and "personal time hours."  "Work hours" are going to be for NaNo, for my daily word counts.  "Personal time hours" are going to be me unplugging from social media (except texting ha ha), and enjoying some Netflix movies or telly series binge watching (because, y'know, Supernatural just hit Netflix with I think Season 11, and I'm only 1/2 way through Season 9 at this point.  And of course Stranger Things is, well, strange, but in that good way).  I've got this sign that I think I found on one of the blogs I'm following for bullet journaling that's a "Do Not Disturb" sign that's soooo going to be hung on my door during those "Work hour" times.  Camp NaNoWriMo didn't exactly go well, so I'm trying to make sure I don't bomb out for NaNo!  Socializing is just going to have to take a back burner during certain times of the day so I can meet my word count goal each day.   Sure, it's only 1,667 words per day, BUT do you know how difficult that is to do?!  It's not easy, I can tell you with 100% certainty from personal experience!  ESPECIALLY when you're writing about subject matter you're not usually on the moving pen side, but the spectator side.

I've got a few books I'm going to use to get stuff done.  They're specifically about helping to prevent and avoid procrastinating.  Three were recommended by a friend of mine, and the other I found just a few nights ago when I was browsing Amazon.  They are:

I've not really "cracked the spine" on these, so to speak, not yet.  That's a goal to start this week, however.  I want to make sure that nothing suffers in my life, because yes, my book is important and is a priority, I just have other things I have that are priorities as well.  Like pet care, outdoor cats I'm working with Mary to help get off the streets, and of course time spent with husband.  ha ha  Don't want him feeling neglected!  LOL

Here goes, right?
